RDA Review: Wotofo Profile Original (V1) Clone

Intro

The single mesh Profile was made in two versions, the Original and the later 1.5 "Mr Justright".  On the outside the visual difference is mainly down to the inlet vent hole style, but the later 1.5 incorporated a redesigned build deck which accommodates a wider mesh (8.5mm vs 6.8mm for the Original) plus the build deck is slimmer which gives a few more mm vertical internal space.

Although the 1.5 seems a much better bet for emesh, this review concerns a Wish.com clone of the original.  I have not seen a clone of the 1.5, so I'll be looking to source a genuine model for review in due course.

Review

At first sight, the quality of this little RDA seemed fairly impressive.  However the protruding base screw from a overly-shallow countersink made it sit an little skewed on the mod (should be an easy fix). I also found removal of the stock driptip to be a very tough operation requiring a set of stout pliers, although the entended driptip went in smoothly.

The internals are of a much rougher design and construction than the genuine model. The inside is also tiny and much care is needed to prevent the mesh coming into contact with the internal walls, especially the swivelling metal flange that controls the airflow.  Also the mesh needs to be folded almost flat to avoid risking contact with the top cap.  I recommend not pushing the body on completely, in order to steal a couple of extra precious mm vertical space.

For convenience and ease of future cleaning it's probably be best to remove the sprung centre pad, which is redundant for emesh.  Fitting the mesh is trickier than the Mesh Pro owing to the much reduced available space but once done, I was amazed to see it pass the "no toke" and "standard toke" tests (as mentioned in the emesh update video) with flying colors, no dismantling/polishing/cleaning was needed,

And although the mesh surface is small, I still easily managed to fit 20mg of dimitri onto it with the usual technique of adding a little at a time and melting in.  I feel that by using a funnel or similar loading aid, more could be added with care although it's definitely felt far more tricky than the Mesh Pro or Vandy clones. Also, this is one RDA where I'd consider cutting the mesh so that a mm or two of it sides could be folded up to prevent spillage, despite possible temperature uneveness across the mesh.

Pros:

Cons:

Verdict:   Might just about suffice if you're desperate and don't mind the hassles, but don't expect to fall in love with it.  I'd say try and get a genuine Profile 1.5 instead, or better still a good Mesh Pro.

Inside the RDA body.  The walls and airflow flanges are much thicker on the original than the 1.5, which further reduces internal space.

A chunky, rough, tall build deck reduces available vertical space, so mesh build needs care to avoid inadvertent contact with the cap, and also the sides to avoid touching the vent airflow flanges

The Profile clone takes the extended 810 driptip very nicely
