Vape Testing With Live DJuice
Vape Testing With Live DJuice
You've completed plain PG/VG testing, replaced the old wick & have primed a new one with Djuice, gently filled the tank with the Djuice to ¾ way (or whatever) up the glass, connected to your mod, allowed to soak for around an hour, and are all ready to take a few live test tokes.
If you've followed the previous guidelines, you'll have an idea of the maximum suggested Wattage for your chosen coil. However, be aware that this is only a rough guide, & the true life max wattage setting is dependent on toke rate, tank design, juice mix, mod Wattage accuracy & perhaps other factors. Also, it's wise to consider that our coil/wick installation may have been fouled, even if from movement during the tank assembly.
Initial Pre-testing
I'd strongly advise against diving in with anywhere near the max quoted Wirebuddy Wattages. So forget tripping for now, just begin with a wide airflow ring setting with 2-3 second slow tokes on gradually increasing wattages from about half the Wirebuddy max (but staying under about 75% of Wirebuddy Max,and keeping the toke short), paying attention for burning smells, error messages potential error messages, odd coil sounds, wildly fluctuating resistances or error messages indicated on the mod etc. Don't hold any inhaled vapour, although it's unlikely that anything useable will be produced with such low Wattages/short tokes, so don't be too concerned about significant or in fact almost any detectable tripping effects
If you're confident that all is well you can begin exploratory longer tokes at maybe 75% of the Wirebuddy maximum (a bit less for dual coil setups), afc ring positions you established during previous testing, and experiment thoroughly with toke rates & durations before increasing Wattages.
Single Coil Example: 26x2+36, Ø3mm 5½ turns
Wirebuddy shows 21W maximum, so I'd start by setting the mod to around 16 to 17W on this just to get the feel for it. Set up your airflow ring to the wide side of the green zone as you noted on this page
Popping
Note that many tanks will deliver a single pop about 2 seconds into a fire cycle. I've never known this to occur with pure PG/VG, and it may not even with Djuice but be aware as they can sometimes be unexpectedly vicious. My own way around this is to press & hold down the fire button for a couple of seconds whilst not toking. If it pops, then release the fire button, and you'll then be fine for the next minute or more to take a toke without popping concerns
