Percentage

Percent literally means per hundred.

In Math, when we talk about percentages, we mean per hundred parts. So 7 percent refers to 7 parts out of 100 parts of a whole.

Percentages are fraction with a denominator of 100 except that instead of writing the denominator, we use a special notation called the percent sign (%).

Percentage Point

Percentage point refers to the arithmetic difference between 2 percentages. For example, Mark scored 80% for his Maths paper which was 20 percentage points higher than the 60% he scored for his Science paper.
