Digital Defence Challenge

Introduction

Total Defence Day is commemorated on 15th February in Singapore annually to mark the fall of the country during WW2 in 1942. This solemn day reminds us of the hardships that our forefathers suffered under the Japanese Occupation and the importance for any country to be able to defend their sovereignty.

In 2019, a 6th pillar of digital defence was identified in light of the cyber threats to the country. The worst of which was the 2018 cyberattack on Singhealth that compromised the personal health information of 1.5 million patients and specifically attacked targeted Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
