Axis
The axis are the reference lines that determine the location of a point just like how the equator and the meridian prime are reference lines for the geographical location on a globe.
The vertical axis is known as the y-axis and the horizontal axis is known as the x-axis.
Origin
The origin is defined to be the point at the intersection of the 2 axis. You could think of this as the centre of the Coordinate Geometry World and all other points will define the location relative to this 'original' point.
4 Quadrants
The axis also divide the plane into 4 quadrants. Starting from the top right and going in an anti-clockwise fashion, they are numbered the 1st to 4th quadrants.
