At the end of this chapter, students are able to:

1. Differentiate a power function of the form axn.

2. Differentiate a function of the form aun, where u is a function of x using the chain rule.

3. Differentiate the product of two functions using the product rule.

4. Differentiate the quotient of two functions using the quotient rule.

5. Apply differentiation to find the gradient of a tangent and a normal to a curve.

6. Apply differentiation to solve problems involving connected rates of change.
