Our goal is to support the success of our students, to promote a life-long enjoyment of reading, and to provide knowledge building experiences with 24/7 access to information in a welcoming environment that is conducive to learning.

We  strive to achieve this goal through attention to Equity, Well Being and Achievement.


This week we have some new resources for you to explore. Tamil Heritage Month resources will remain archived for your use as are all the Days of Significance resource pages.

Here are a few special resources supporting literacy for you to explore in the days ahead.


The FOLD Canada’s “The Festival of Literary Diversity” celebrates diverse authors and storytellers, held in historic downtown Brampton. The FOLD Kids page includes webinars and activities as well as information about the annual FOLD Kids Book Fest. Each month,  FOLD Kids Book-of-the-Month highlights one picture book and one middle grade or young adult title by a marginalized Canadian author. FOLD Kids: 2021 Summer Reading List highlights 10 picture books, 10 middle grade and 10 young adult reads. 

The Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC) is a national, not- for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging, promoting and supporting the reading, writing, illustrating and publishing of Canadian books for young readers. The site is rich with recommended lists by age group and theme LGBTQ+ Books for Teens 

Join the White Pine Reading Club and have fun and boost your academic success at the same time.

Reading helps students think critically and improves reading comprehension skills, which is beneficial in every subject area measured in this study. However, the benefits of pleasure reading do not end in the classroom. Students take the skills they have honed through reading into adulthood and, in turn, into the workforce and society .

Special for Teachers

We Need Diverse Books A non-profit organization started by a team of writers, illustrators, and publishing professionals compiled list of sites that offer recommendations for diverse titles in children’s books. 


Kaleidoscope is a review site featuring French language children’s books that encourage children to get out of preconceived ideas and stereotypical roles, promoting reflection, the emergence of critical thinking, openness and tolerance.


Mistikrak offers reviews of French language children’s books, organized by various helpful categories.
