Orange Shirt Day 2022

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at LPCI Library Learning Commons - 2022

“September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children’s sense of self-esteem and wellbeing, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.” Orange Shirt Day Web Page http://www.orangeshirtday.org/

Join us in wearing Orange on Friday, September 30th.

In honour of Orange Shirt Day and the spirit of reconciliation, classes have been invited to participate in the Lawrence Park Path Toward Reconciliation Project. You are invited to share videos and other resources with your classes then encourage students to think about their connections, thoughts and questions regarding the commitments and challenges of reconciliation and record them on an orange shirt. Please send your class orange shirts to the library as soon as students have completed the activity.
