Did you know that STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) with ART sometimes is called STEAM? Last year we studied COLOR chemistry when we mixed paint and gave the new color a name. TEXTURE and SIZE are parts of the Elements of Art and we will study these today with an art called Origami. This special art has helped solve scientific challenges in space and in the human body (by changing the SIZE and TEXTURE of things).
Lets Try our FIRST together - folding corners to make a simple Origami Fish!
Supplies: The only supply needed is the special Origami paper.
Parent Helper Note: The key to this lesson is encouragement to play and create even your own origami. The science engagement goal is to have students folding to small shape and symmetry and being brave to try. Students do not need to master how origami specifically works. And yes you will have some experts in our student group too!
