Piet Mondrian - Lines & Primary Color
This art was created by Piet Mondrian. Today his art work can be seen in museums all over the world. He is one of the most famous Abstract (non-picture designs) artist to ever live. In the decades that followed his famous art works, many other painters, advertisers, architects, graphic designers, and even high fashion clothing designers around the world copied his style.
He LOVED simple straight lines and using RED, BLUE, and YELLOW PRIMARY Colors.
Project Description: Today you will make your own piece of Mondrian art work using lines and ONLY blue, red, and yellow.
Step 1: Each child will be given strips of back paper in different thickness to glue down to the paper. Black strips should ONLY run up and down (vertical) or side to side (horizontal).
Step 2: Students will then fill in the squares with paint. Do NOT MIX colors. Not every space needs to be painted, some should be left white (see Mondrian examples).
