Today's Element of Art focus is an advanced step using Space & Size with One-Point Perspective which makes our drawing look 3D using FORM. This is where MATH and ART join beautifully!!
2 dimensions -
length
width (like a Rectangle shape shows both).
3 dimensions -
length,
width, and
height (or on paper how deep something can go)
What makes art interesting and amazing is you can have a drawing on 2D paper look 3D by adding depth using this one-point dot perspective for all the parts of the drawing!
Raise your hands if you remember this Ben Heine art image from last year in 3rd grade?
How about this below?
Okay, next step is one-point landscape. Can you visualize the one-point drawing LINES in the below photos?
Today we are going to draw some more using one-point perspective again but with a street!
Step 1: Sketch the horizon line, street lines, and sky lines with #2 pencil first using a ruler. (this should all be done ahead in class before smart).
Step 2: Stay simple!!! Using colored pencil OUTLINE the trees first (notice the size big to small as you get close to the point). Then, try buildings on the right.
Step 3 - Add the street or even water in the middle notice that the street markers start big and get small. You can start to add the details with colored pencil. Don't be afraid to try. This is learning not mastering.
Step 3 - Add Shading with crayon and pencil. Fill in the green using light and dark coloring and making it very strong and very light depending on what you see. Again, this isn't mastering but learning. Enjoy your drawing, try things!
