In this amazing experience, students will make masks out of plaster squares and water. They will use these materials to form around their own faces!
Mask Making- (Monday, May 13th) 12:30-2:00pm - Students will have a partner and use Vaseline and sheet headbands to pull back their hair and cover eyebrows. They will then work with their partner to make the white masks out of plaster squares and water that will form their mask over their faces and then switch. The masks will dry over night on a plate with their labeled name.
Once dry, students will be allowed to decorate their masks at a later date using paints of all types and colors as well as feathers, gems, and other things students can bring and use.
PARENT PREP NOTES:
Supplies - Vaseline for students in cups (each has their own), Sheet strips for tying back hair and eyebrows, Named paper plates for holding masks, mirrors, Plaster cut squares of all sizes to fill the container, and water cups for laying on masks and joining.
Tips for joining plaster - Need to really smooth with water right away, they dry quick. And in general just 2 layers not too thick and not too thin otherwise it will break.
Tips for hanging - Cut black strings ahead of time, Need to hole-punch on the sides for better hanging.
