Is everyone ready for snow?
Today you get to create a snow hat drawing by using LINES, SHAPE, and COLOR!
Have you been working on lines? What types of lines are your favorite?
What are your favorite shapes?
How about patterns? A mix of lines or mix of shapes but in a certain order that repeats?
(Engage thoughts on lines&shapes)
Step 1 - Trace the hat shape on colored paper
Step 2 - Outline your shape (it can be fuzzy).
Step 3 - LINES!!! Lots of them
Step 4 - Add Shapes & Patterns! Don't forget to mix color! Bright and Dark!!
Step 5 - Cut outside of your line.
Now lets see some examples (need to add photos to website) and how lines help shape things.
Show students the examples and a quick how to on the lines to emphasize the perspectives using lines on the brim of the hat or earmuffs built in (they aren't necessary but help bring some element of perspective into the art (an advanced technique for those who follow).
Parent Note: Name labels on back after the hat is traced.
