Picasso Faces

(Art to Remember)

Hello Friends!

Last session we learned about Butterfly SHAPE and symmetry (same shape on both sides).

Today we are going to learn about shapes on our FACES!

Are our faces Symmetrical? Well, they don't have to be for this art session but we do want FACES.

We will learn about a very famous artist... Pablo Picasso!

Today we will create a FACE.

Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous artists of all time! Why is he so famous? Because he knows how to make people smile with his silly faces and wacky art.

Here are some of his silly drawings of his own face... this is called a self portrait.

"Hey Ham Look! I'm Picasso! Even Mr Potato Head from Disney Pixar's Toy Story  knows art!!

Supplies we need today to make Picasso Faces:

Remember!!! Oil pastels are so fun because you can color over them. You can layer the pastels over and over. So, if you make a mistake you can just go over it  and blend with your fingers. You can try on scratch paper if you want or the back. They are like special paint crayons.

Step One: THE EYES

Step Two: NOSE and MOUTH

Step 3: Add lots of DETAILS using SHAPE and COLOR. Have fun and be daring to do something silly and layers of different bright colors.

Here are ideas that you can choose yes or no:

We would love to take some pictures of examples because this is a first time we have done this! Your picture might become an example on our webpage! Have fun, be silly, and try different things. Picasso's art is famous because its not perfect... each one is different, interesting and FUN!
