What is Zimmer Twins?

Zimmer Twins is a movie animation editing site. As a teacher, you make an account and you are able to create and manage student accounts. Here, students can make animated videos containing to any topic of your choosing. They are able to choose from over 100 clips and are even able to add dialogue. Zimmer Twins is an easy way for students to memorize and learn any subject that you are teaching.


HOW TO CREATE A MOVIE

1. Once you create an account and login, click on “Make A Movie” in the left hand corner.

2. Once on this page, click the tab that says “Make From Scratch.” This will bring you to the movie maker.

3. In Movie maker, you are able to drag clips from the box on the right. There are tons of them!

4. To give the movie dialogue, click the star tab in the right hand box.

5. Use the clips and dialogue to create a story of your choosing.

6. Once you are satisfied with your video, click "Save Video."

7. A tab will pop up and you will be able to give your animation a title and a description.

8. Once you click "save", your video will be saved to your movie gallery!

Classroom Benefit

Sometimes, learning things can be a monotonous and frustrating task for some students to master. Zimmer Twins is a perfect classroom tool to help battle that. It's an easy and fun way for students to make animated movies on any topic of your choosing. If you want them to remember a certain topic, you can have them make a movie on it. Through this project, they are able to easily memorize and master any subject. It's also fun!


This is definitely a site that would go well with Elementary and Middle school levels!!!


A Few Examples!

2nd Grade Social Studies:

    • 2.4.2 Describe the responsibilities of citizens in the United States.
      • For this standard, you could have students make an animation having the Zimmer Twins talk about being a good citizen. They could have them explain the importance of voting and obeying laws. They could use the newspaper dialogue box to announce who is running in an election.

5th Grade Social Studies:

    • 5.3.5 Evaluate the motives that led to the establishment of the thirteen colonies.
      • For this standard, teachers could have students make a video animation of the Zimmer Twins having a conversation about certain events such as the Boston Tea Party and Tea taxes.

  • Must be able to read

  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Young students probably wouldn't be able to use this tool.

How much does all of this cost?

        • Zimmer Twins is completely free to use! There is a paid version with a few more things but the free version is all that you need to get your class motivated!

Can anyone view the videos?

      • The only people with the ability to watch your animations are the people that you allow.

Whats the catch?

      • I know it seems to good to be true, but it is completely true! Zimmer Twins is just a fun and safe place for students and teachers to be creative with what they are learning.
