Google Keep is an app developed by Google for taking notes, making lists, and setting reminders. Can be downloaded to your phone or added as an extension to your computer or laptop. From writing notes, to drawing, speaking, and even taking pictures. You can also set reminders on different notes by hitting the reminder button and then adding the note that way


This tool is not only using in real life but is also useful in the classroom for both students and teachers.

  • Teachers can use this in the classroom to keep track of the lesson by using the checklist to check off the topics they have taught, can be used to make notes on difficult topics the kids encounter, or even just to stay organized and on track when times get confusing of difficult
  • Students can use this tool for group projects. The students in said group can make notes and share them with each other on problems or even to just keep track of who is doing what in the project. Students can also use this to stay organized with the built in reminders and easy access whether on their computer or on their phones.

Step-by-step instructions:

  • APP
    • go to the app store and download "Google Keep"
    • sign into your gmail account to be able to save and sync your notes and lists to every device
    • to take a note hit the "take a note" , it will take you to the note page where you can add a title to it and write whatever you want
    • to make a list hit the list button, you can add check boxes or just leave them off for the list


  • ON THE COMPUTER
    • go to the website keep.google.com and if you have the app on your phone, the notes on their will show up on the website
    • it's pretty much the same steps as the app with the button "take a note" to take a note
    • to set a reminder for a note you click on a note already made and hit the icon with the finger and set a reminder that way OR you can hit the reminder tab on the side of the website and make a note with a reminder all in the same time.

  • 8th grade:

      • For this standard students can use google keep to keep track of what they have already found information on, keep track what other group members are doing, and even just to set a reminder to do it and for the due date.
  • 5th grade:
    • Conduct an investigation to determine whether the mixing of two or more substances results in new substances. (5-PS1-4)
      • For this standard i could set up a group project for the students to do. They would have to use google keep to keep track of what each of the group members are doing, set a reminder for when the project is due, and to make a list of all the important things the project includes. To the notes the students could add pictures of the substances they are mixing and what they look like after it is mixed to see if a new substance is created.
