What is Quizlet?

This tool is simply used for online flash cards. You can create your own or search for a topic that someone may have already created a set for. Quizlet offers to turn the information into different activities once you find a set of cards rather than just using them as flashcards.

These are 2 of the common icons you may see to know you are on the correct app and/or website.

STEP BY STEP:

  • You first must create an account.
  • If you want to search for some already made, then all you have to do is type your topic in the search engine and find the one you may want to use.
  • On the other hand, if you want to create your own:
        • You must hit the "Create" button.
        • Then, you fill in a title for your set of flashcards and start creating your flashcards.
  • Once you create a set, there is different ways to interact and study using what you created. (Flashcards, Learn, Spell, Test, Match, and Gravity)


Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • You can access this tool from any device that has the app or website availability.
  • Very helpful way for students to study with technology since their is different activities you can use and even customize what questions you want to be asked.
  • Very simple and easy to use.
  • You can change what you type to different languages which includes chemistry and math which could be helpful with formulas.

Cons:

  • Some students may rather hands on studying than using technology.
  • Using the shortcut of finding a set already made can lead to having additional or not enough information.

1. Can you make changes to a set someone already created that you find?

No, you can only edit your own unless you have permission to do so or have access to the account that originally made the set.

2. Can you edit a set you create once you are done creating them?

Yes, you just have to hit the edit button on the set page you want to edit. It's the first icon right under the title of the set. Looks like a pencil.

3. How do I delete a set I no longer need?

Under the title click on the icon that has three little dots on it to make a drop down menu pop-up. You then click on "Delete".

4. Can I embed a set I created into my website?

Yes, you have to be on the set page you want to embed. Under the title click the icon that has three little dots on it to make a drop down menu pop-up. You then click "Embed" and follow the directions it says.

5. Can I add on to a set someone already created?

Yes, you have to be on the set page you want to add to. Under the title click on the icon that has three little dots on it to make a drop down menu pop-up. You then click on "Combine". You then click on the set(s) you want to combine it with. You then can choose which study method you would prefer with all the sets by choosing it in the drop down menu and hitting "Go". You can even create a set altogether by clicking "Create a Set" in the drop down menu. If you do that, it will create a new major set and won't delete your minor sets.

High School Social Studies Classroom

-Give each student an important word/topic that corresponds with the lesson and objectives you are discussing. Have every student create a flashcard.Combine all the cards and there you have a way for the kids to study from.

-Test them with creating a quiz on Quizlet by printing out however many copies of it you need.
