BrainPOP Jr. is an educational learning website that provides children with online animated curriculum-based content that is aligned to state education standards. The site includes videos, games, quizzes, and activities in subject areas such as: science, health, writing, reading, social studies, and math based on national education standards. This website allows students and teachers to both be engaged in the learning process in a fun way!

Step By Step:

1) First go to BrainPOP Jr. Website

2) Click on the tab at the top right corner of the screen that says "ENTER CODE"

3) Then enter your class code given by your teacher

4) Next, login with your personal student account given by your teacher

5) Now you are all set and ready to explore BrainPOP Jr.

Sample Classroom Activities

First Grade Math-Counting Coins Activity

1.MD.D.5- Determine the value of a collection of coins up to 50 cents. (Pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters in isolation; not to include a combination of different coins.)

  • Given a bag of coins, students will get into groups and come up with as many different combinations to make 50 cents as possible in a given amount of time. The class will then regroup together and discuss the different combinations that students came up with.



First Grade Science-The Solar System Activity

1-ESS1-1 Earth's Place in the Universe: Use observations of the sun, moon, and stars to describe patterns that can be predicted.

  • For this activity, students will be broken up into small groups. Each group will be assigned a planet in the universe and asked to make a poster about their planet. Students will be given all the resources needed to make the poster and look for information on their specific planet. Students will then come together as a class and watch as each group presents their poster to the class.
