Digital Citizenship

Dominique Barquero

Introduction

Digital citizenship is a concept that helps teachers, technology leaders and parents understand what students / children / technology users should know to make appropriate use of technology. Digital citizenship is more than just a tool for teaching; it is a way of preparing students / technology users for a technology - rich society. Digital citizenship is the right, responsible use of technology.

Using Digital Citizenship

1. The first step in using Digital Citizenship is to complete the one hour Digital Citizenship Curriculum Tutorial.

2. Once the tutorial is complete, you will then get a certification of completion.

3. You will then have access to to lesson plans, videos, student interactives, and assessments that promote the digital citizenship curriculum.

4.Once a lesson is selected, Digital Citizenship then provides you with objectives, standards, and additional lesson materials for the selected topic.

FRequently asked questions:

How are the assessments scored?

  • Eighty percent of the questions are quantitative, so students will receive a percentage score based on their first answers. Twenty percent of the questions are qualitative (write-in answers), and these are recorded on the results table. Teachers then evaluate the written answers and determine how they will or won't affect the overall percentage score. (You may want to consider giving the written answers a rubric score instead.

How do I see my students' scores?

  • Students will be able to print or take a screenshot of their results at the end of each assessment.
