sTEP BY sTEP guIDE:

1) Go to the Matific.com website or download The matific app in the app store.

2) Sign in to your account if you have created one or go to parents go here to begin playing without creating an account.

3) PRess green button that says start playing.

4) Select grade level for child (k-6).

5) Page will load game.

6) PRess Green play icon and the bottom of the screen and begin playing game.

7) Goals with locks will appear on the screen; press the first goal to play.

8) Click challenge to play and solve the goal selected.

9) If you get the question right it will move you on to the next problem, however if you get it wrong it will restart the problem over again.

10) Play and have fun learning Math!!!!

cLASSROOM aCTIVITIES

Standard 1-B. (Kindergarten) Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category. 3. Classify objects into given categories based on their attributes; count the numbers of objects in each category and sort the categories by count.

Teacher will login to Matific Homepage or App on Smartboard minimizing the page until ready to use. The teacher will teach the lesson on counting objects to the kindergarten class. The students will then engage in a game on counting objects on the Smartboard using the Matific software. Students should be engaged in learning as this is fun for students and it motivates them to want to learn math. After students have participated in the Matific game on the Smartboard as a class, students will then work in groups sorting out objects at their tables. Each group will have shapes and will have to count how many each student was given. After each group has completed the activity, we will review as a class on counting objects. Teacher will send a letter home encouraging students and parents to practice on the Matific website or app.

Standard 2 -C. (First Grade) Use place value understanding and properties of operations to add and subtract. 4. Add within 100, including adding a two-digit number and a one-digit number, and adding a two-digit number and a multiple of 10. b. Understand that in adding two-digit numbers, one adds tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose a ten .

The teacher will introduce her lesson of adding and subtracting numbers and the importance of place value. She will instruct the importance of tens and ones value place. Using Smartboard, the teacher will prompt her lessons to students before the given activity. As a class, students will engage in a game from the Matific website or app using the Smartboard for the better understanding of tens and ones in regards to addition and subtraction. One student from each group will get up and participate on the Smartboard taking turns playing the game. Participation is important because it improves skills to become better! After working together as a class, the teacher will provide each student with a worksheet on addition and subtraction working with tens and ones place value. The teacher will send a letter home encouraging students and parents to use the Matific app or website and instructions to help the students practice math skills.
