I am so proud of us in Tidewater! What a wonderful conference. We all came together, working hard. All had a great time. It was very special having the new club Prince Georges, Maryland represented.
I hope to see you all at our May 15th meeting as we install the new board. We start a new year with our new Governor Linda Dorr. Please view District Two Goals, "Leading to a better Community". Her new Biennium 2023-25 is
"Be The Change You Want To See In The World".
Joanne and Ellen, Thank you for guiding us through this conference.
Next year Conference is in Montgomery County, Maryland. It's not too early to plan to attend.
See you next Monday night!
In Altrusa Love,

Greetings Altrusans!
I hope this message finds you all doing very well. Spring is here in full bloom! The April showers have brought us many May flowers! I hope everyone enjoyed our conference here in Virginia Beach and you made many wonderful memories, met some new friends, and enjoyed those who are near and dear to us.
May is a very busy month; we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 14th and Memorial Day on May 29th. In addition, Altrusa recognizes May 15th as the International Day of Families. We must always keep our hearts and minds focused on the needs of our families, both locally and around the world. We are a sisterhood of connected souls; giving our very best to those who need us, both privately and publicly. Please see the link below for more information and the theme for 2023: https://media.un.org/en/asset/k1g/k1g4vzj4vf
Please enjoy the month of May with your families and friends and I look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
All the Best,
Tracey

Green Run Elementary School
Club members Marcy, Joanne, Cathy M and Ellen attended the volunteer appreciation reception at Green Run Elementary School recently . Altrusa of Tidewater was recognized for the many volunteer hours members provided the past school year. We enjoyed snacks and a beautiful cake. Each member received a certificate of recognition as well as one for our club. It was lovely to meet all of the other volunteers as well.
Reading to Kindergarteners at Green Run continues through June 9. On that date the students will each be given a new book from our club. The following members have signed up to read the remainder of May and two dates in June.
May 12, Robyn and Marcy. May 19, Cathy M. June 2, Cathy M and June Kates. June 9, Cathy M, June, and Joanne.
On Monday, May 8, in recognition of Teachers Appreciation Week Altrusa members provided treats and coffee for the teachers and staff at Green Run Elementary. Thanks to members' contributions there was a large variety of goodies for breakfast and takeaway treats. Our club also provided a large basket of apples and bananas. Many teachers expressed how much they enjoyed the spread and our recognition of the work they do.
Yard Sale Fund Raiser
Leading to a better community as an international organization, our board supports joining in on a neighborhood yard sale on Saturday May 20, 2023 at Jennifer’s home in Chesapeake to benefit World Central Kitchen.
Hours: 7am-12pm.
Jennifer needs help Friday afternoon, 4pm, for pricing and setup.
World Central Kitchen provides meals for families in need, lately in Turkey and in Ukraine in times of disaster.
Bring your excess usable household items to sell or make a cash donation.
Please be sure your items are priced and ready for sale when bringing to Jennifer's home. Volunteers are also needed. Increase your Altrusa Service hours by volunteering and having fun!
Teacher Appreciation at Green Run Elementary School
Thanks to many club members for contributing an abundance of snacks. The office staff were amazed! Cathy M. did individual notes for mailboxes. We covered ALL staff this week!
The Scholarship Committee has been very busy. Kathy has written all the checks they will be mailed on Monday, May 8th. Many of the scholarship recipients will be attending our June meeting.
Reminder! Club 21 dues must to be paid online. Use this link to update your personal Club 21 dues to support International Foundation.

True Altrusan Tidewater Hospitality Shown at Conference
Thank you, thank you!! We are very grateful to each of you who helped supply us with a variety of yummy foods for the Conference Hospitality Suite! Our guests enjoyed them all. Both breakfasts included everything from homemade breakfast cakes, cinnamon rolls and hard boiled eggs to yogurts and fruits. Thursday night’s evening social was a banquet of veggies, chips, cookies, cakes, chocolate and more chocolate! We even had enough food on Saturday to pack Sunday Breakfast bags and “to-go” bags for folks to enjoy on their long rides home on Sunday. For your amazing Tidewater Altrusan hospitality, thank you! --- Lisa Carter
