Hello To All,
This is Wednesday March 8, 2023 and Happy Women's Day to all us strong Altrusa women. As you know, we run this world!
It was so nice to have District Two Second Vice Governor Brenda Ruby visit us last month.
Also a big thanks to Shari Gomez for the program, "Toolkit, " sharing tools available for a successful Project through steps in planning a project and implementation and evaluation.
I am asking all members to register for our conference in April. Even if you can attend a portion of it. Joanne and Ellen are doing a grand job planning and they need all our help.
The days are getting longer and I hope to see you at our March 20th meeting. If you're unable to attend, please let me know.
Yours in Altrusa,
Sherral

Greetings Altrusans!
I hope this message finds you all doing well. I am certain you have heard the saying, “In like a lion, out like a lamb” when referring to the month of March. Well, here in Virginia, as of March 1st, it is arriving more like a lamb! I decided to do some research on how and when this saying came about. “According to The Paris Review, the phrase was first recorded in the early 1,700’s and may be linked to the Constellation of Leo rising toward Aries the Ram…time honored folk-lore indeed”. It’s amazing to me how a simple phrase can stay with us over hundreds of years! I am certain families must have shared stories together; patiently waiting for signs of Spring!
Altrusa International recognizes March 8th as International Women’s Day. The theme for 2023 is Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality. Please see the link below for additional information: International Women’s Day 2023: “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality” | UN Women – Headquarters
The month of March also recognizes Women's History Month. As Altrusans, we represent a wonderful group of women; focused on enriching the lives of all people within and outside of our local communities. From schools to hospitals, we can find women making a difference and modeling positive role models for future generations. Dr. Keri Reviens, a community-based researcher, shares a very interesting outlook on the future of women-”Women hold great value in the field of research, providing crucial perspectives that can be used to develop innovative solutions to community issues. We need to create more space and opportunities for women to be in leadership roles, elevating female voices. Women in leadership are well-positioned to ignite transformation while empowering the next generation of female leaders to do the same. “Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them,” – Unknown.
Please have a pleasant day and let us continue to celebrate and encourage each other!
All the Best,
Tracey

Look Who's Coming to Breakfast!
Whether you're attending the District Conference in April or not, we hope you'll help us be GREAT Tidewater hosts for the weekend. We're looking for contributions of breakfast items and afternoon/evening snacks to serve as we host two continental breakfasts and two evening socials over the weekend. We expect up to 50 people each time. Yikes! 😮 Now you know why we're coming to you for help. The items may be homemade, bakery-made, or store-bought. We're suggesting these, or something you like better:
Breakfast Goodies - something to grab & go, like Cinnamon rolls, muffins, or quick breads
Afternoon Snacks - chips with dip or salsa, assorted munchies, cookies, cakes, sweets
To sign up, text or call Lisa.
She'll contact you to confirm and give you her address, if needed.
Drop-offs at her house on April 25 & 26 or on Thursday, April 27th, bring them to the hotel.
Our thanks to the members at our last meeting who have already offered to help.
Help us be the Hosts with the Most for the 67th Annual District Two Conference.
