Holiday support for Seton Family
The “Season of Giving” has come and gone and Altrusa International of Tidewater, Inc. is happy to have been able to support a deserving family in our community. Members of the Service Committee reached out to Michelle Broady, Community Partnership Manager at Seton Youth Shelters/MCP and were given information on a family that was in need of support for the holidays. Members of the club voted to allocate $500.00 from club funds to support the single mom and two boys with gift cards to cover food for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as gifts for Christmas. The boys provided a list of gifts that they wanted and we were able to fulfill all of their wishes! Both boys enjoy playing video games and each was given gift cards with which to purchase games. The nine-year-old also received a scooter, a football, and clothing. The eleven-year-old received lighting equipment in order to make videos, a basketball, and clothing. In addition, the mom was given a $100.00 gift card to Walmart to get whatever else was needed. Members Joanne Baines, June Kates, and Robyn Friedman enjoyed shopping for the family. Delivery was made to Seton headquarters by Joanne and Robyn in time for staff to wrap and deliver. The staff at Seton was pleased with all of the gifts and said that the family would have a very good Christmas.
Service Committee Meeting
The service committee will hold a brief Zoom meeting directly following our regular January meeting on Monday, January 18. Just stay on after the regular meeting. Bring your ideas about how we can continue offering service during this prolonged isolation! Everyone is welcome. See you Monday!
Our thoughts and prayers go to...
~Lisa Wallace-Davis. Her husband Derrick lost his mother during the holidays.
~Susan Corey. Her father passed at home on January 6th.
We're thinking of both you and your families during this sad time.
