Greetings Altrusans!
I hope this message finds you all doing well! Summer is just around the corner and I am looking forward to spending more time with family & friends! Our first day of summer is just a few weeks away; what a better time to enjoy all the beauty our Tidewater area has to offer. As Altrusans, caring for our environment has always been a team effort; our school vegetable gardens are examples of how we put our heart into preserving our environment and community. We recognize June 5th World Environment Day. There is much work to be done to protect our world and to be good stewards of our earth! Please see the link below for more information:

Please have a pleasant month of June and looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
All the Best,
Tracey
Board Actions - June 2023
There were no board actions at the June 2023 board meeting.
Green Run Elementary School
A cartload of books in colorful watermelon bags were given to all the kindergarten classes. Altrusa purchased the book The Night before First Grade and REACH provided an additional book for each student. The choice was either Henry and the Yeti or Frankie the Blankie. Cathy and June were the lucky ones to deliver these gifts and to read one more time with the youngsters.
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!
Altrusa of Tidewater has sent 20 MINI COMPUTERS AND TWO PROJECTORS to the Tagpoponagna High School. It finally has happened!
Barb S.'s young friend Lucas knew of a Mini Processor. So instead of 6 or 7 regular PCs, we were able to purchase 20 Mini PCs, keyboards, and mice. Additionally, we purchased two multimedia projectors for the teachers to project lessons from the internet since this school is lacking in paper materials (i.e. books).
Martha Beck, another friend of Barb's, is traveling to Samal Island this month. She will be sending more pictures.
Check out the pictures - top to bottom: This is what shows on the screen when it is booted up. Here are some of the packages that were delivered to the school. The packages being opened. And lastly, some of the computer stations being built for the students to use the computers.
You're Invited to a Garden Party
Saturday, June 24, 9am-12noon
Virginia Tech Hampton Roads AREC Gardens at 1444 Diamond Springs Road in Virginia Beach.
Put on your best garden hat and shoes and join in for a stroll in the gardens. Enjoy refreshments and talk with the volunteer gardeners as you explore 28 different gardens.
Welcome!

Is this purchase something I need:
Do I already own something that will serve the same purpose?
Dan I borrow one instead of buying new?
Can I make something that will serve the same purpose?
Can I borrow one instead of buying new?
Can I make something that will serve the same purpose instead of buying new?
Can I buy one used instead of new?
Can I buy locally?
Can I resell it close to what I paid for it?
