SM Geocode Addresses (1258) has been added to the main menu with permission 1258. Use this function to request geocodes (latitude and longitude coordinates) from Google's geocoding API for orders, appointments, and sales leads. In order to run this function, a valid 'Google API key' must be entered in SM Edit System Options (1005) under the Google API Settings. To obtain an API key follow the instruction on the right side of the SM Edit System Options (1005) page in SMCP.
'Missing geocodes' are the number of records that have never requested a geocode before. 'Invalid Addresses' are addresses that have requested a geocode that came back invalid. This could be from either an improperly entered or missing addresses.
To use this function select a record type, and a max amount of requests to make, and click 'Update Geocodes'. While the process is running the 'Update Geocode' button will be disabled until the initial request is finished. The function can take several hours depending on how many records are being updated. Refresh the page to see the new record count of missing geocodes as the function is running.
NOTE: Google's Geocoding API can accrue charges by going over the monthly quota. Please refer to the Google Geocoding API Usage and Billing page before running this function for more than 1000 records.
