SMCP now features the ability to create 'quotes' or estimates, using actual inventory items or custom items entered on the fly. These quotes can be easily turned into actual orders simply by changing their status from 'Quote' to 'Active'.
Quotes function like orders: they include 'header', 'details', 'discount' screens. Items are entered on quotes, just like on orders, and most of the same fields apply. But quotes have a few different controls: for example, on the individual quote detail screen, you'll see a text box for 'Estimated unit cost'. By default, if you enter a standard inventory item, this cost will default to the most recent cost, but you can change it. If you are adding a 'custom' item here, maybe something that will have to be ordered, you can enter an estimated cost yourself. Additionally, there is a 'Cost multiplier' for each item that allows you to quickly mark up the individual list prices for each item, if you wish to do so. Otherwise, existing inventory items will appear with their established list prices (custom items will default to a zero price).
Costing and pricing fields on quote details
The main purpose of the SMCP quote is to allow you to estimate your total costs, and calculate, using different methods, selling prices for each item, OR for the quote as a whole. On the details list screen, you have the ability to reprice individual selected lines, or all the lines on the quote, using one of several different calculation methods, depending on your preference: You can mark up your costs using: 1) a total mark up per LABOR UNIT (e.g., per truck day), 2) a total mark up AMOUNT, 3) a total cost MULTIPLIER, 4) a total GROSS PROFIT PERCENTAGE, or simply 5) a TOTAL PRICE.
Quotes can be printed OR emailed as needed.
