FA Edit Depreciation Type
This function allows you to build different lifetimes for the various depreciation types. Each asset is associated with one depreciation type, which determines the length of time and type of calculation used to generate depreciation on that asset.
FA Period End Processing
This is your 'end-of-month' processing function for Fixed Assets. You'll choose a year and month to depreciate, and this function will generate all the depreciation, update the totals, and create an export file that can be imported into a separate General Ledger program. It also includes an option to do a 'provisional' posting to test the depreciation before an actual posting is done.
The export file is generated in the same folder as the other modules export files.
FA Clear Transaction History
Use this function to clear historical depreciation transaction details; typically you might keep a couple years of previous transaction history, but you shouldn't need more than that.
FA Reset Y-T-D Depreciation
This function should be run once, at the end of the year, after closing the year. It resets the year to date totals for the depreciation on each asset so that those year to date totals can begin accumulating again from zero.
REPORTS:
FA Asset List
This report lists all the assets and related information about each. You can choose to print disposed and or non-disposed assets, and also choose to show totals only or all the detailed information for each asset.
FA Transaction Report
This produces a listing of all the depreciation transactions for the selected period: starting from a year and month, and ending with a selected year and month.
The SMCP system now includes a module for tracking and depreciating your fixed assets. Functions include:
FA Manage Assets
Use this function to add, modify, or delete fixed assets. Each asset gets an asset number, description, acquisition date, associated GL accounts, and several other pieces of information. You can choose the depreciation calculation to use (for example, straight line depreciation over 60 months) from a list of configured types of depreciation calculations.
