1509-1547: King Henry VIII

King Henry VIII is remembered as one of England's most notorious Kings. A King that would have far-reaching consequences even after his death. Henry VIII is best known for having six wives. In order to divorce the wives he didn't like, Henry broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and founded the Church of England. The fate of Henry's wives can be remembered by a famous children's rhyme;

"Divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived."

During his six marriages Henry only had three children. His children, who took after their mothers more than their father; Mary, Elizabeth and Edward would divide a country with one question; Who deserved to sit on the throne of England?
