27BC - 1453: Roman Empire

Rome was the world's greatest superpower in the world for centuries, until a series of events led to its spectacular collapse. But Rome was not built in a day, and nor did Rome fall in day. How and when the Roman Empire fell is still up for debate between many historians. Did Rome fall in 476BC? Or did Rome fall in 1453? After 476BC there was never a Roman Empire to sit in Rome again - this is why historians believe that Rome fell when the Barbarians sacked the city in 476BC.

While the Western Roman Empire fell to barbarians in 476BC, the Byzantine people from Greece continued the Eastern Roman Empire nicely, calling themselves Romans for a further 1000 years. Because of this, the Roman Empire dragged out its famous Decline well through the dark ages and into medieval times.

Did the Roman Empire survive after it left Rome, until 1453? Or was the Roman Empire sacked in 476BC.
