1200BC: Trojan War

Until about a 150 years ago, history was quite sure that the Trojan War and the Sacking of the City of Troy was purely legend, a myth that was made up, a children's story. But in 1870, an archaeologist made a startling discovery. He found the remains of a great citadel that existed on the Western shores of Turkey, which appeared to be overrun in a great war around the year 1250 BC. This location and time period matched up with the story of the Trojan War, which centered around the Sacking of Troy. Troy was unearthed.

War erupted between the Trojans and the Greeks because of a Queen, the most beautiful woman in the world. Queen Helen was married to a Greek King. But she fell in love with a Trojan Prince by the name of Paris. Helen left her husband and fled to Paris’ home, the City of Troy. The Greeks declared war on the Trojans and demanded Helen be returned to the Greeks. The war went on for ten years, only ended with the trick of a Trojan Horse. The Sacking of Troy brought an end to the Trojan War and Troy was left in ruins.

"If you stay here you will find peace. You will find a wonderful woman. And you will have sons and daughters who will have children. And they'll love you and remember your name. But when your children are dead and their children after then, your name will be forgotten. There is another option. If you go to Troy, glory will be yours. They wull write stories about your victories for thousands and thousands of years. And the world remember your name. But if you go to Troy you will never come back. For your glory walks hand-in-hand with your doom. The choice is yours."
