1347: The black Death

The Black Death was a pandemic that killed 100 million people in Europe. It came to Europe on the back of rats and fleas, starting in 1347, and lasting until 1351. The Black Death spread quick, so quick that people were literally "dropping like flies." These Black Death caused the human body to become black and purple, hence the name. The symptoms could be seen 3-7 days after victims were bitten by a flea. There was no cure. It was a death sentence.

"Death hung over all."

Edgar Allen Poe
