800BC: Ancient Rome

The legend of Ancient Rome begins immediately after the Sacking of Troy, when a man named Aeneas escapes the burning city and flees to the banks of the Tiber River in 1250BC. As the story goes, Ancient Rome was then founded by two brothers, the demi-gods, Romulus and Remus, on 21 April 753BC along the banks of the Tiber River. Romulus and Remus are both direct descendants of Aeneas of Troy. The legend claims that, in an argument over who would rule the city, Romulus killed Remus and named the city after himself. Thus Rome was founded. The Roman Republic blossomed from 753BC - 27BC. But it would be the Roman Empire that would take Rome to new heights of influence, which lasted from 27BC - 1453.

"It was war which would make Rome a powerful force in the Ancient World."
