1609: Galileo

Galileo Galilei lead the charge into space, paving the way for modern day exploration.

He was the first to see craters on the moon, he discovered sunspots, he tracked the phases of Venus, he discovered the rings of Saturn, the moons of Jupiter and was the first to stumbled upon the planet Neptune.

These discoveries led him to a question that defined an age — did all things revolve around the Earth? Or perhaps, maybe, just maybe, the Earth in fact revolved around the Sun.

"All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is, you must discover them first."
