FAQ

How do I request support for streaming?

Fill out the Support Request Form to give us your event details and we will respond back within 2 business days.

What room should I book for streaming events?

The best room is Bloedel 070, since it is designed specifically for this. Other options include:

  • BLD 070A (10 people)

  • RCB 402 (10 people)

  • MGH 015H (12 people)

  • MGH 370H (5-7 people)

  • OUG 220 (100+ people)

  • Allen Auditorium (20+ people)

  • *HUB - larger conference rooms (over 15 people). Learning Technologies will need access to the conference room several days in advance in order to test streaming capabilities. Meeting organizers should note streaming from these rooms is not ideal if online participation is required.

Locations we cannot stream from:

  • Research Commons (Allen Library)

  • Intellectual House

  • Maple Great Room, Maple Hall

  • *Sam Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (ok to use Kubis for 1 or 2 people). Learning Technologies will need to test streaming equipment several days in advance of the event. NOTE: This venue is not recommended if the meeting organizer is planning to have online audience participation and/or several group activities.

* please contact Learning Technologies (olt@uw.edu) with meeting outline and proposed activities before reserving one of these locations. We may recommend another venue if activities are not conducive to steaming in this location. Check the Online Participant Guide which includes guidelines for engagement between meeting organizers and online attendees.

Other classrooms on campus with A/V Bridge:

  • Classroom Technology & Events (CTE) maintains a list of classrooms equipped with A/V Bridge. (Audio/Video Bridge gives you a professional camera and audio device to use with Panopto, Zoom and various web conferencing tools).

Who should book the physical room?

The person who organized the meeting.

Why do I need to book the room starting a half hour prior the start of the event?

This will give us adequate time to set up and resolve any technical issues.

I know I won't have any online attendees. Can I still receive streaming support?

Unfortunately, no. Our support is available to allow people who otherwise wouldn't be able to participate to attend online.

I'm not sure if there are people interested in attending online. Can I request streaming support just in case?

Yes, we are happy to create a web form for any potential online attendees to sign up. If people sign up, we can help stream the event. Keep in mind that you are responsible for distributing this form to potential online attendees (e.g. through iSchool mailing list).
