Share a VoiceThread

VoiceThread (VT) presentations aren't very useful if you don't share them! You can share VT presentations within your Canvas course (group), with someone who is currently not on your Contacts list, or simply by getting a share link. See below for instructions.

Share a VoiceThread With Your Course

The following Google Slideshow describes the process for sharing and adding a VT presentation to a course. Download a copy of the slideshow (UW Net ID login required)

Add a VoiceThread Presentation to Course VoiceThreads

Share a VT With Someone Not in Your Contact List

  1. Login to VoiceThread (Be sure you are logged-in to Canvas, first)

  2. Select the thread that you want to share

  3. Click on Share

  4. Click on the Contacts tab (as opposed to the Groups tab that is automatically selected)

  5. Click on the + button to the left of the contacts tab

  6. Enter the UW email address of the person that you want to add to your contact list.

  7. Enter their name in the "Name" field

  8. Click Save

  9. Click on his/her name that’s displayed under the search Contacts bar

  10. View and Comment should be green, which means these permissions will be given unless you click on them. Click on Edit if you would also like to give permission to edit.

  11. Click Share

Getting a Share Link

Note: this option is only recommended for pubic VTs otherwise the URL won't work if people need to login first (in which case they would need an LTI link)

  1. Login to VoiceThread (Be sure you're logged-in to Canvas, first)

  2. Select the thread that you want to share

  3. Click on Share

  4. Click on "Get a link" on the bottom left of the window

  5. Choose to whether to allow anyone to view and/or comment (if you leave both unchecked, only those you've specifically share your VT with, e.g. your class group or an individual, can access it)

  6. Click Done

Edit Playback Settings

Playback setting can be updated and/or edited at any time while you are in "edit" mode. This VT tutorial explains more. Once you've updated the playback settings, settings can be customized as pictured below. Learn more about playback settings.
