Getting Started with G Suite

Enable G Suite

Before you can use G Suite it must be turned on in your NetID Management Console. Please follow the instructions provided by UW IT Connect or in the video below to enable the G Suite tools:

Log into G Suite

There are a number of ways to access G Suite. It often depends on the app first used to login to the suite.

Log in with a Gmail Account

The most common method of accessing G Suite is to start by logging into your Gmail account. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Point your web browser to https://gmail.uw.edu.

    • In this scenario you are immediately taken to the NetID authentication screen. Enter your NetID and password and then you will be automatically forwarded to the Gmail system.

  2. Point your web browser to https://gmail.com.

    • Here you are taken to the normal Gmail login screen. Enter your full UW email address (youremail@uw.edu) into the "Email or Phone" box and click the "Next" button.

    • Google will figure out who you are from your email address and redirect you to the NetID authentication screen. Enter your NetID and password and then you will be automatically returned to the Gmail system.

Access Google Directly

You can also access your UW G Suite account by logging in directly to https://google.com. Follow the instructions in the video below to learn how to access Google directly with your UW NetID.

Customize your Apps Menu

Once logged into your Google account you can customize your apps menu. Watch the video below to learn how.

Access Multiple Google Accounts in the Same Browser

Often you may want to login to both your UW G Suite account and your personal Gmail account. there are two ways to accomplish this; login to both accounts in the same browser window, or create multiple profiles in your browser and run a separate profile for each account. Multiple profiles is beyond the scope of this course so please watch the video below to learn how to access multiple accounts in the same browser window.
