ScreenPal

ScreenPal is a screen capture software that can be used to create video from your screen (i.e. short lectures or course tours), and it doesn’t require you to download any software.

Free version is limited to 15-minute recordings with watermarks. Pro accounts are available for iSchool faculty. Pro accounts can create recordings longer than 15 minutes, without watermark, and has editing tools and scripted recording capability. If you are an instructor, you can request a Pro account by emailing olt@uw.edu

I'm an iSchool instructor. How can I get access to a Pro account?

Does it require a download?
Yes. The newest version of ScreenPal will ask to download the recorder the first time you use the software.

Does it record the sound coming from my speakers?
No. It only does this if you have the Pro Recorder (paid version).

When I make a recording is it always uploaded to the internet?
No. Recordings are made on your local computer. No part of your recording is uploaded unless you choose to upload it after recording.

What devices can I record on?
The recorder works on Windows or Mac, iOS, Android and Chromebooks.

How long can I record for?
You can make up to 15 min recordings with the free version or use the Pro Recorder to record for longer.

What if my lecture lasts lasts for an hour?
Plan to create four 15 minute sections and create a recording for each one.
