Hello students and parents! I’m Mr. Black, one of the 7th grade Civics teachers at VCMS, and I’m excited for this school year. I’m from Columbus, Ohio, which gave me a love for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, and Cleveland Browns.
I studied business and government in college and interned in the U.S. Senate during that time, which gave me a firsthand look at how our government operates. After college, I lived in New York for two years before moving to Florida five years ago where I met my now fiancee! We are getting married in the spring of next year and we can't wait.
I’m fascinated by philosophy and government, and I look forward to exploring these topics in the classroom. My goal is to create a classroom where everyone feels heard and ideas matter. Whether you’re into sports, history, or something else, I want to know what drives you. Parents, I’m committed to making this year productive and approachable, please feel free to reach out.
