Mr. Trifu
Welcome to 7th Grade Civics and Economics! Brace yourself for a challenging second semester of what we hope will contain many positive educational experiences for you. Here's where you begin to understand and improve the world!
Students are starting a unit that introduces them to the American Legal System. That unit will culminate in a mock criminal trial experience in our classroom. Students will also hear their peers present on significant federal laws that were passed in our history and landmark cases that were ruled by our Highest Court. A few classes will also witness students engaging in a two on two moderated, researched, and timed debate over social and political issues.
Second semester research project information will be coming out in early February. Students that want to work with a partner on the project will need to have a project contract signed by both students and their parents. Once our unit on law is completed, students will participate in a mock criminal jury trial in the classroom.
Civics tutoring will be available for struggling students in room 226 from 3:30 - 4:00 just about every other Wednesday. It is recommended that struggling students attend these tutoring sessions in an effort to raise their low Civics average. Here are the dates for the second semester: 1/22, 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, 4/9, 4/23, 5/7 and 5/21.
