7th Grade Language Arts
Hi everyone,
I'm Ms. Emmert, your new Language Arts 7th grade teacher!
I expect excellence in everything my students do.
This class develops skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, literature analysis, communication, and grammar. Every student will be expected to write in their class interactive notebook, read both independently and in class, write essays, analyze themes, and present their knowledge before classmates.
I am a huge advocate for personal accountability. Absences are on the student. They need to contact me for any make-up tests and projects, otherwise their work is in the Google Classroom for them to complete on their own time.
If students wish to read books that are more mature (i.e. Stephen King, Gone Girl, Casino Royale, etc.), please provide a parent note saying you are aware of your student reading this book and that they know to talk to you about any questions that may arise. I do NOT accept any books that are "spicy," (i.e. Brigerton, Outlander, etc.). Graphic novels/comics/manga, while enjoyable, will not fulfill any class reading requirements.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about class.
Health questions go to our lovely Nurse Joy, discipline to your student's administrator Dr. U., emotional/bullying concerns to their counselor, and absences are sent to vcmsbr.attendance@tvcs.org.
Sincerely,
Alyssa Emmert
