Welcome Students and Families!
I am thrilled to welcome you to 8th Grade ELA for the upcoming school year! Eighth grade is a pivotal year—a time of tremendous growth, bigger ideas, and preparation for high school. Together, we’ll dive into engaging literature, sharpen our critical thinking skills, and master the art of effective communication through writing and discussion.
In our classroom, every voice matters. Over the course of the year, we will:
Explore Great Literature: Analyze compelling novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction texts.
Develop Strong Writing Skills: Master persuasive, informative, and narrative writing techniques.
Build Critical Thinking & Discussion Skills: Engage in thoughtful Socratic seminars and collaborative projects.
Prepare for the Future: Build the vocabulary, grammar, and analytical tools needed for high school and beyond.
"Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are."
My goal is to foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging environment where every student feels inspired to express their ideas and push themselves to reach new academic heights. We learn together, support one another, and celebrate each other's progress.
