Language Detectives

Our Language Detectives:

Our Manifesto:

We acknowledge how fortunate we are to attend an incredibly diverse school where nearly 40 different languages are spoken, and where various faiths and cultures are celebrated. Our journey into the world of language learning begins at the young age of five, providing us with a strong foundation for future language learning.

This academic year, we take pride in collaborating with Madame Elliot to actively promote language acquisition within our school community and offer an extra helping hand. Each week, the Language Detectives from Year 5 and Year 6 will take charge of organising French Take Home Bags, designed to inspire younger children to share their language discoveries with their families. Occasionally, we will also lend our support to Madame Elliot during Year 1 and 2 lessons, setting an exemplary standard for French proficiency.

But that's not all! We want everyone in our school to love learning languages. So, we'll tell our friends to use Language Angels on Google Classroom, and we'll even join Spelling Bee competitions together. Our involvement extends to the organisation of the annual Language Day event at the conclusion of the academic year, as well as collaborative ventures with international schools, aimed at promoting cross-cultural understanding through language education.

Our roles as Language Detectives include:

Autumn Term update:

Throughout the autumn term, we have assisted Madame Elliot by collecting the French Take Home Bags for Year 1 and Year 2 every week, ensuring the return of all contents. Additionally, we have commenced communication in French with a new class of children in Lyon, utilising the Padlet app. We eagerly anticipate reading their responses!
