Mental Health & Well-Being Ambassadors
Our Mental Health and Well-Being Ambassadors:
Our Manifesto:
The well-being and mental health team is working towards achieving a Well Being Award for the school and our aim is to ensure all members of the school at every level feel involved, are aware of what mental well-being is and the positive/negative impact it can have on an individual’s well-being. To bring nurturing, safety and warmth to the forefront of our curriculum. The team will be involved in organising Wellbeing days on the 15th of every month where the children will be off curriculum and instead build on their emotional health through activities like, yoga, meditation, creative and field work activities that build a sense of resilience and knowledge of the world.
We aim to promote well-being by making Western House Academy a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging by being an integral part of a community culture where we look out for each other. The team will be a voice for the greater school community and help organise activities that promote well-being across the whole school.
Our roles as Mental Health & Well-Being Ambassadors include:
Ensure they are keeping a record of the popularity of all the activities that were completed on the wellbeing days.
Discuss with their classes to find where the gaps are and what other activities we could include in the next wellbeing day.
Talk to children and assess if these activities are having a positive impact and if they are applying the use of some of them at home like meditation and going for nature walks.
Autumn Term update:
During the Autumn term, The mental wellbeing ambassadors took feedback from their classes and have discussed it in meetings. They have also shared their well being journals and come up with suggestions to improve the activities for the day. They played an integral part with the school achieving our Well being award.
