Peer Mentors
Our Peer Mentors:
Our Manifesto:
As Peer mentors, we get to interact and build relationships with the younger children. We work with them to follow our school values and support them in their learning.
We enjoying helping the children we mentor to socialise and build on their skills. This can include playing games with them, talking to them when they have any issues and being a positive role model for them
The younger children really look forward to our weekly sessions and we enjoy building the relationships with them.
One of the best things of being a peer mentor is seeing the children we work with smile and laugh.
Our roles as Peer Mentors include:
We support younger children all around the school .
On Thursday, we go onto the playground early and play with children.
We support the children with: anxiety, friendships, behaviour, to show the values and we try to be a trusted role model to the younger children.
On Fridays, we go to our allocated child classroom; we help them with their work, play with them, talk to them about their behaviour if they are not being kind to other children and more.
We speak to the teachers about what they need support with/improve on.
The peer mentors give feedback to Miss Gregory and discuss anything we are worried about and key issues.
When the children have achieved the goal we set out for them, we have a closing session where we give a keepsake for them.
Autumn Term update:
This term we have been supporting children in years 1, 2 and 3. Every Friday we see the children we support and play games and build strong relationships with them. We have started to support children in reception with their reading. We really enjoy working with the younger children and we love being a role model to them.
