Reading Ambassadors
Our Reading Ambassadors:
Our Manifesto:
Being Reading Ambassadors of Wester House Academy is a pleasure to us all. We are responsible for organising books, hearing children read and adding books to the Accelerated Reader libraries. Our hopes are that young readers will flourish and find libraries as their safe spot; a place to escape from the negatives. We would like every child to see it as their responsibility to look after the books in our school and keep the Accelerated Reader libraries tidy.
We love listening to younger children read and we know that they enjoy it too.
Our roles as Reading Ambassadors include:
Tidy up and monitor the AR library, including labelling new stock.
Collect and sort Year1 Phonics Reading books.
Hear Year 1 readers on a weekly basis.
Work with Mrs Kearney to plan book events and new initiatives e.g., the book fair and World Book Day.
Autumn Term update:
'As Reading Ambassadors, we have read with the Year 1 and 2 children once a week to help them develop in confidence. It is also our responsibility to tidy up the AR and phonics libraries. We would like more people to take care of the books.'
