Prefects

Our Prefects:

Our Manifesto:

At Western House Academy, becoming a prefect is an ideal way for young pupils to learn how to serve everyone and take an important step on the road to self-reliance. We are reliable and responsible pupils who work very hard to maintain an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, discipline and unity in the school. We are committed to our responsibilities and do our best to complete the given jobs with dedication and enthusiasm. Taking the responsibilities and helping others makes us proud to be part of WHA. We do any jobs from cleaning the playground to helping the teachers to set up assemblies or guiding the younger ones in their day to day life. We thrive to be great role models for other pupils and love to help in providing cleaner and safer place for everyone, especially for the younger children. Happier and safer pupils will be able to spread their values in our wider community.

Our roles as Prefects include:

Autumn Term update:

'As prefects, we have been helpful this term by assisting children in the lunch hall and offering help to the Year Group leaders on a Monday. We have really enjoyed this. We have also helped with raising money for charities by selling the poppies and making up chocolate bags, with the School Council, to sell.'

Spring Term update:

'We are currently working on sending out curriculum books to all of the year groups throughout the school, based on what they are learning. We have, additionally, contributed towards the donations for Ukraine by filling shoe boxes for various age groups and for boys and girls. The whole school had generously donated and all of the shoe boxes have been put into packages ready to be delivered to Ukraine. We have also granted ideas in the Pupil Role meeting that younger children, in reception, could soon be allowed into the big playground so they can get used to it and not be worried when they are in Year 1.'

Summer Term update:

'We have continued helping and supporting with different year groups, especially Nursery and Year 1. We have been reading to the children in these groups and listening to the children read too. We have also supported staff with the organisation of the Platinum Jubilee - setting up tables, chairs and food. In addition, we helped guide the Reception children into the main playground. We played fun games with them to make them feel comfortable about the step up from Reception to Year 1.
