Sgraffito Tile

The subject of my creation was that I decided not to do an image or something that represents something else that is easily recognizable. Instead, I decided to draw different shapes from circles, to rectangles to trapezoids to diamonds. The goal was to have the black to white ratio to be as close to 50/50 as possible. Obviously, it wasn't that, I would say it was more like 65/35. The materials I used to make this was that I started with a pencil, and I created all of these lines and then I went over them with a "scratcher" I like to call them. You basically just start scratching away the black to reveal the white under it. I created this artwork because I wanted to do something that not everyone was doing but with my twist to it. As I was making my design I realized I didn't include in triangles in it. Instead of going back in and adding numerous triangles I thought it would be a good Idea for there to be only one and it's kind of like where's Waldo with a triangle.

This is also the reason why my project evolved over time. At first I didn't have any triangles but then added only one to create a game out of it. One technique I used throughout this project was that it was okay to change up your reference to something else mid way and include something. I realized that it was harder than I thought to draw nice lines with no chippings coming out and because of that, not everything was to scale to my other one, causing me to include more shapes to make up for the lack of space.
