Color Design

To start, the subject of my creation for the drawing on the left was that I had to start with a base color — blue for the top one, and red-orange for the second one— and make nine shades, five lighter shades, and four darker shades. I created the different types of shades by adding more and more white to them to make them lighter and more and more black to them to make them darker. For the drawing to the right, I did the same concept as the other one but I included more colors. I made both of these paintings using the three primary colors, red, blue, yellow, and I was able to make the base color and then included black and white for the shades. For the painting on the right, I think doing a design like this would be easier than doing something like a landscape for example so I wanted to do something easier because I am not that good at painting and I wanted to do something I would be comfortable doing.

One technique I used was for the drawing on the right was drawing each section using a pencil and then going over it with paint. By doing this, I was able to divide each triangle evenly without trying to guess if I'm doing it correctly. Another technique I used was drawing the background first and then drawing the triangles after that. I did this because if you start with the background and work your ways up, it is easier compared to starting in the front, and working towards the back. My project changed throughout the process of making it because whenever I painted the smaller triangles I would go outside the border so I would always have to go back and remake the blue for the background to cover it up.

If I could go back and change/revise anything about either painting, I would definitely go back to the first one on the left and I would probably stay inside the border and not go beyond it and creating something that doesn't look that clean. Another thing I would change/revise in the painting on the right would triple layer some colors because they have some obvious brush strokes in them and they have some white spots and if I went over them it would make them look so much better than they are right now.
