The main idea that guided this artwork was hidden darkness. I took the idea of having suppressed emotions underneath expressed happiness. To portray this I did the same patterns and designs but one in color and one in just black. It may not seem like it at first glance, but I did put meaning behind most of the "doodles."
To make this work I used graphite, sharpie, markers, and colored pencil. I started off with the zoomed part of my shoe and tried to see if I could make anything out of it. I couldn't think of anything so I just decided to do doodles. It was very time-consuming to use such a small pen but it was worth it in the end.
To make this I obviously used the viewfinder on my shoe and zoomed in on it three times. I chose the second most zoomed drawing so that I had more to work with essentially. At first I started my doodles in pencil and then decided that it would take way too long and started working with the sharpie. Other than that it was mostly just free-hand doodles.
