Mr. A had us make a tile with a design of our choice for this project. I chose to do a rectangular slab with a chartreuse glaze. I then did a simple leaf design. My goal for this project was to make a nice decorative piece that would make a good gift.

To make this project, I sketched my idea, rolled out an even slab, used an underglaze, and carved into the slab. When sketching, I already had an idea of what I wanted to do with my slab. I knew I wanted to carve something with leaves and I came up with a very simple but pretty design. There were multiple ways I could've chosen to roll out my slab, but I chose to use two wooden sticks and a rolling pin in order to get an even thickness. Once I had an even slab I used a piece of paper as a template for a perfect rectangle. While I was choosing my underglaze I saw another slab that had already been fired, and I really liked the color. So I ended up using that underglaze, which is called chartreuse.

Overall I am very happy with how my tile turned out. I know my design was very simple, but I think if I added anything else it would make the tile too busy. This slab will make a perfect decoration or gift, and I don't think I would do anything differently.
